Health and Disease: Obesity

You are most likely already aware that there are all kinds of natural treatments available for different health related problems. Studies have been carried out in order to try to find a natural appetite suppressant. The difficulty in the past has been that many of these also have troublesome side effects. Recent research however has discovered one natural appetite suppressant which is very effective and also has no side effects. This product is known as Hoodia.

Hoodia was released in 2004 onto the diet market, and since its introduction has experienced a steady rise in popularity. It has even been promoted on television networks such as the ABC and the BBC, and been backed by all sorts of well known people who have stated that it works really well.

In fact Hoodia was originally used by Kalahari Desert dwellers, whilst they were on long hunting expeditions. The main ingredient in Hoodia is known as p57, and this substance is believed to send signals to the brain which suppress the appetite, with the effect that the user's brain believes that their blood sugar levels are heightened. Using Hoodia, according to some studies, you can reduce your daily calorie intake by half.

You may be wondering how long it takes for you to achieve your desired results by taking Hoodia. The amount of time it takes, however, varies from person to person; some people experience immediate results, whereas other may have to wait for up to three weeks before they get their desired results.

It would also be reasonable to ask yourself whether it is safe to take Hoodia. Studies so far have not revealed that there are any side effects at all from taking it, which at this stage indicates that it is quite safe to do so.

However, if you are a diabetic then it is not a good idea for you to take Hoodia, or at least if you do then you should take extreme care, because Hoodia makes your system believe that your blood sugar level is high when in fact it is not. This means that your system does not know what it needs to consume and you could end up with unsafe blood sugar levels, which could be harmful if you are diabetic.

The following are some things you need to consider before you decide to try Hoodia:

1. Hoodia only grows in Africa, so only buy it if this is where it has come from.

2. Make sure that the product you buy is 100% Hoodia, rather than a blend.

3. The price of Hoodia is high, so be very cautious if it is offered at a low price.
